CHEMICALKINETIC-QN03

Briefly explain factors affecting rate of chemical reaction. (three points)

  • Soln:

The rate of chemical reaction reactions is affected by

    a. Concentration

    • Is the number of molecules in a given solution

    • The high concentration, the high rate of chemical reaction.

    b. Temperature.

    • Is the coldness or hotness of the body. The high temperature (more hotness of the body) the high rate of chemical reaction.

    c. Catalyst.

    • Is a chemical substance that speed up the rate of chemical reaction.

    • The presence of catalyst such as vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) influence high rate of production of Sulphur trioxide from Sulphur dioxide.

    25O2 + O2 →V2O5 ← 25O3.
