A steady of 4A was passed through an aqueous solution of copper (II) sulphate for 30 minutes. Calculate the mass of copper deposited at cathode in

  • Soln:

    Data:

    Current (I) = 4A
    Charge of Cu = 2
    F = 96500
    Mw = 63.5
    Time = 30 minutes (1800 sec)
    Mass = MQ / V.F
    M = (63.5 × 4 × 1800) / (2 × 96500)
    = 2.32g
    The mass of copper was 2.32
